The Program on Semantic, Symbolic and Interpretable Machine Learning hold a workshop in Oberwolfach

 

From February 14th to 16th, 2024, the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach (MFO) buzzed with intellectual fervor as leading minds convened for a groundbreaking workshop on cutting-edge machine learning (ML) approaches.

The event kicked off with a flurry of insightful sessions on Wednesday, February 14th, where attendees were treated to captivating talks by esteemed speakers including Peter Flach of the University of Bristol and Vincent Derkinderen from KU Leuven.

Thursday, February 15th, saw invigorating discussions led by industry experts like Johannes Hoffart from SAP and Nassir Navab from TUM, who explored topics ranging from foundational models to semantic scene graphs.

Closing out on Friday, February 16th, the workshop featured thought-provoking presentations by luminaries such as Kristian Kersting from TU Darmstadt and Eyke Hüllermeier from LMU Munich, shedding light on the future trajectory of ML research.

Throughout the event, participants engaged in dynamic exchanges, forging new collaborations and pushing the boundaries of ML towards greater innovation and understanding.
