ELIZA Unit Munich
Konrad Zuse School ELIZA (Excellence in Learning and Intelligent Systems) is a graduate school built on the network of European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) in the field of machine learning-driven AI, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and coordinated by the Technical University of Darmstadt.
The Zuse School ELIZA offers a wide range of opportunities for a master’s degree or PhD in cooperation with 14 academic institutions in all, spread across seven German ELLIS sites: Berlin, Darmstadt, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Munich, Saarbrücken and Tübingen. More Information on eliza.info.

Track 1: Research-Oriented Master’s Scholarships for PhD Candidates
For outstanding students entering a Master’s program with a Bachelor’s degree from the aforementioned research areas and aiming for a PhD.
Track 2: Konrad Zuse Master’s in AI Scholarships for Students from Underrepresented Groups
Supporting diversity in AI by funding highly qualified students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Application Deadlines
You are welcome to submit applications at any time. The application deadlines each year are April 25th and October 25th. Scholarship decisions will be made for the respective semester following these dates. You will receive notification about the decision on May 25th or November 25th.
ELIZA PhD Program
Fully funded PhD Position(s)
ELIZA Unit Munich offers fully funded PhD position(s) with structured supervision and mobility across sites. Apply through ELLIS PhD & Postdoc Program to work with one of the ELIZA academic fellows. The call is in the fall of each year. The call will be announced at ellis.eu/news. Candidates are interviewed by both prospective supervisors, who make a recommendation to the ELIZA PhD Admissions Committee.
ELLIS PhD & Postdoc Program
The ELLIS PhD & Postdoc Program supports excellent young researchers by connecting them to leading researchers across Europe and offering a variety of networking and training activities, including summer schools and workshops. ELLIS PhDs and postdocs conduct cutting-edge curiosity-driven research in machine learning or a related research area with the goal of publishing in top-tier conferences in the field.
